Life goes on as usual with its ups and downs. There is multitude of inputs from various directions in our lives on a regular day to day, hour to hour and minute to minute basis. Some days you are happy while other days you are not. One day the wife is unhappy and that pulls you down. Another day the daughter is getting married and you get you all excited. Work sometimes is enjoyable and other times it is not. These we term stresses and strains of life.

How we process all the stimuli of daily life determines how happy we are? Yoga and meditation provide the insight and know-how to be able to handle the stresses and strains of daily life in a way that leads to a happier and a more prosperous life style. A meditative life cushions the impacts of stresses and provides that peaceful existence for our being.

Absence of turmoil is not peace. Peace has a positive independent identity. Meditation brings not only peace but also clarity and decisiveness. Relief of stress is only one of the benefits of meditation, even though it is not the main reason for starting meditation. Meditation with practice has potential to make living more meaningful and fulfilling. It adds a little extra something to our life which is just worth it. Dr. Bhatta is an urologist practicing in Skowhegan and Pittsfield area since 1992. He has been practicing meditation far the last 35 years and has knowledge and experience of several meditative techniques. He has also authored a book, Gita Today’ and is in process of completing two other books in near future.
